tCO2e associated with the recycling truck that comes to our offices twice a
week and is racking up quote some miles each year.</span><o:p></o:p></p>

came across an interesting commentary online that asked the UK National
Atmospheric Emissions Inventory:</span> <br>
<i>We have been using the Defra July 2005 Guide to Company reporting of
Greenhouse Gases to calculate emissions from HGVs. Table 10 gives emissions of
1.18kg CO2/km for a 100% loaded articulated HGV. As a comparison we have used
Table 2 to calculate the emissions based on the quantity of diesel burnt by the
HGV. A HGVs fuel economy is 8 miles per gallon, which is 2.83 litres/km. Using
the factor of 2.63kg CO2/litre (for diesel), gives emissions of 7.44kg CO2/km.
Could you comment on this apparent discrepancy which arrises when calculating
the emissions based on two different tables?</i> <o:p></o:p></p>
